War Memorial Park

A group of veterans and friends have begun working on the "War Memorial Park" project to rehabilitate and repair the existing Veterans Memorial at Old York Road in front of Temple Beth Am and Penn State- Abington dormitory in Abington Township.

When completed the memorial, which is difficult to see due to current landscaping and layout, underutilized, and in need of repair, will be a tribute to all who have served to defend our beloved United States and an even bigger tribute to those that have given the ultimate sacrifice to defend all that is near and dear to our hearts.

The cost for the project is approximately $200,000 and will include a complete renovation of the memorial with the relocation of two existing memorials and the installment of several new tributes. It will also include a reflection pond, landscaping, hardscaping and sitting areas.  The project will be funded through grant money and generous donations.

To help fund the project, the War Memorial Committee volunteers are asking for the community's support in monetary donations that will help us reach our goal. Any size donation will be accepted, greatly appreciated and directly contribute to our success! For those looking to permanently honor a loved one, military unit or civilian organization, engraved bricks and/or memorial benches can be purchased.  Bricks can be purchased for a $100 donation (4 x 8) or $150 donation (8 x 8). Benches can be purchased for $5, 000 donation. If purchasing a brick or bench,  please complete and submit the below forms. We will not be able to create your brick and/or bench without the completed form.   All contributions are tax deductible.

The War Memorial Park Committee, comprised of five local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts and residents, thanks you for your consideration and support of this project. We are confident that the rehabilitation of this underutilized memorial will provide a space for veterans, their families, friends and neighbors to gather and reflect on the sacrifice and perseverance that our loved ones and community members have endured to preserve the American freedom.
