Ward 28, Finley's corner!

As most of you are aware, I am a nurse on a children's medical ward. We are looking at making a dedicated multi sensory corner in our play room. Our ward specialises in a variety of medical conditions such as short bowel, diabetes, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and many more. We have  our short bowel babies from birth with most of them spending their 1st and 2nd birthdays with us without going home. we provide these babies with total parental nutrition that they can not survive without but TPN does not come without its complications and can cause secondary affects to other organs. Most of our babies are on bowel, liver and kidney transplant lists.  

Whilst in hospital we aim to help aid and promote these babies development so that they are not to far behind their peers once they are discharged home, a multisensory corner would help us stimulate and improve development with light, sound, textures etc. Our fund has been kicked started off with a generous donation from the Adams family who sadly lost their little boy Finley in February 2017 to the complication of short bowel and liver. In memory of his love for music, dancing and all things multisensory this corner will be named Finley's corner!

We have already started some fundraising with car boots and bake sales but any donation that you could spare to help us on our way to getting Finley's corner would be greatly appreciated.

Id also like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to look into becoming an organ donor and blood donor.  As a nurse I see daily how much this decision can help impact on another life.
