War memorial repair

Donation protected
This war memorial stands in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church in Winchester. It commemorates the lives lost in the first world war from residents of our parish.
Over the years through poor repair and neglect it has suffered and the lockdown earlier this year left youngsters, and some adults with to much time on their hands, climbing over and a little destructive action has done much damage to the stonework.
Our stonemasons estimate £4,500 to be the cost of repair or rather replacing the stonework around the base, but this is likely to grow, also the figure of Christ on the cross is in serious need of repair if not replacement as it os made of timber and is around 100 years old has seen better days.
It is hoped that The War  Graves Commission will assist in the costs plus the church will do its bit but if we could raise moe it would help protect the monument into the future.
On another note, if anyone knows of anyone who lost their lives during the second world war we would love to add them to the memorial.
