War Memorial 100 Miles Challenge
Hi!
As you all know, much-needed work is about to begin that will refurbish our village War Memorial. The Village Hall Committee have worked extremely hard to raise funds and progress towards our target has been superb so far! That all said, we are still short of our target but, we are determined to reach our goal by the end of May. To that end, residents of the village are planning a 100 miles cycling challenge that will take the riders from London's Cenotaph to East Farndon's War Memorial to support the cause.
The peloton participants are:
Tom Oakden
Paul Hodgett
Phil Prew
Scott Harrison
John Parker
Jonathan Crifo Garton
There is potential for another rider to join the team however, he is dealing with an injury at the moment. Fingers crossed!
The team will be supported by Neil Beesley and Merv Curtis, who will meet us along the route, providing us with water, food and lots of encouragement!
The event will take place on Sunday 14 May, with a departure of 0700. The journey is expected to take approximately 8 hours. As previously mentioned, the ride will be 100 miles in length, with an elevation gain of 4592 ft. It is going the be hard work!!
Our goal is to be back in East Fardon by 4pm. The Village Hall will be open for refreshments and we very much hope to see you there to celebrate our return!!!
Any support would be gratefully received!! Donations can be made via this page or, if you would prefer to donate directly, via our riders. All funds will be passed on to the East Farndon Parish Council, via Caroline Burton.
Thank you for your ongoing support towards this fantastic cause. Refurbishment work starts very soon!
