This is a story about a girl, her dog and a really, really, big dream.

Two years ago an idea took shape. Edwina Robertson, a country wedding photographer, decided that she wanted to drive beyond the black stump and capture photos of Australia’s unsung heroes. The communities and families who live in some of the most remote areas of our sunburnt land. The bushies, that live so remotely it would only be a dream for most to have an award winning photographer visit them to photograph their family at their own home.

Not only does she want to share images of the lives and day to day happenings of rural Australians, she wants to share good ol’ Aussie yarns from the bush, just like back in her Grandpa's day.

To add to the adventure, she’s decided to leave her wallet at home. She will not take her credit card, a wad of notes, nor a single cent with her. Zero, nada, zilch. How will she survive, you ask? Well, she will rely on the generosity and hospitality of the people she visits to supply her with food, offer her a bed, fill her tank up with fuel and send her on her way with a packed lunch. If after then, they believe her services are worth more than what they have offered her, they are invited to transfer her a payment amount at their discretion. With no set price on her services, the trip will run solely on goodwill.

So from May 21 to August 21 next year, Edwina has blocked out her calendar for an adventure of a lifetime. She will have no set income for three whole months. For 92 days she and her dog Jordie will drive a lap of the map visiting as many rural families and communities as possible, documenting faces, places and events. Through images and stories she aims to share with the world how uniquely beautiful and special outback Australia is, along with the people who live there.

Her trip of goodwill is now less then six months from departure and it is time for her to purchase her trusty stead that will be a part of this huge journey.

It would not be a true blue Aussie adventure without driving a Toyota FJ40 Cruiser or similar. A car of rural Australia. After much research, she realises she will need a vehicle that is reliable and kitted out to drive her the 30 000 something kilometres that she expects that she will travel. In the case of her vehicle carking it, this car will be relatively easy to fix and most Cockies will have the basic mechanical knowledge to get her back on the road and back to her adventure.
She will also require a few tools such as a satellite phone and UHF to aid her, in the case that she is unsafe and requires help.

All up, she budgets getting everything she needs to be prepared to hit the road, will cost her approximately $30,000. That’s a dollar for every click she expects to drive!

This is where the adventure has a twist! To help Edwina accomplish her dream and actually get on the road, she is asking for other generous Aussies to sponsor her some kilometres! Whether it be a couple or a couple of hundred, each sponsored kilometre will bring her closer to her starting her adventure. But here is the catch! Not only will you be making this adventure a reality and allowing our outback mates to share in this unique experience, at the conclusion of the trip the car will be sold and the funds raised will go directly on to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. One of rural Australia’s favourite and most vital organisations. Your purchased kilometres will go on to support an extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live, work and travel throughout Australia. Now that’s value for money!

So now Edwina is asking Aussies to get behind her so she can she can get around rural Australia. In what is possibly an Australian first, this project is fair dinkum in nature, fair dinkum is style. From one Aussie to another, thanks for your time and generosity.
