Walton County Supports Louisiana

We're a group of residents in Walton County, FL. who work closely with Special Olympics. Myself (Damien McNeil), Rusty Sanders, and Mike Schumacher have been informed that members of the special needs community in Louisiana are among the people that need the most help from the recent flooding. There is a need for medicine, equipment specific to people with special needs, and more general needs like clothing, food, water and shelter. Working closely with this population for a number of years, we know that more often than not, this population tends to be below the poverty line and in times of disaster, will likely have a more difficult time recovering than some.

Our primary goal is to raise funds for people affected by the Louisiana Flooding. As most of us know, this was a terrible disaster with mass-devastation and thousands affected that may never fully recover. Many of us had very little impact and are extremely blessed to be in the position we are. Some of us also have the ability to lend a hand to those struggling and suffering.

We would like to take all funds raised and assist families, specifically but not exculsively, those with special needs children, with food, clothing, shelter, and other basic needs. We are working with invested members of the special needs community, specifically people involved with Special Olympics in the affected areas to determine which people and families are in need of the most help and will be transporting the funds directly to them from you and us. Many families have lost everything - we want to do our small part and help in any way we can.
