Walter Cooke Healing Fund

This is a gathering space for all community and ally members who want to tangibly express their support of Elder Walter Cooke.

In January 2016, our elder was falsely accused and charged with a crime he didn’t commit. After a 13 month ordeal, justice was served in February 2017 when he was acquitted.

The immense cost to himself and his family has been profound: emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially.

This campaign will support our elder who has suffered extreme financial loss defending himself against malicious and false claims. The unnecessary duress and pain of this experience has also severely impaired his health. Our fundraising efforts will go directly to aiding our elder in this time of recovery.

Due to this event, the  community has also suffered the loss of vital access to a trusted and respected elder; it has been a complicated and difficult time for everyone.

Please join with others in solidarity with our elder on his—and our—shared healing journey.
