Walter and Mary Ehrlich Fund

2017 has been a difficult year so far for the Ehrlich family, it has had the family in a roller coaster of emotions. My Grandpa Walter a WWII veteran and my Grandma Mary a wonderful wife and mom passed away. Walter succumbed to respiratory failure on April 22nd, 2017 that he has suffered with since the war, passing away at Centennial Healthcare Center in Greeley Co. Mary recently departed July 12th, 2017 only eighty one days after her beloved husband. She spent those days following Walters death in and out of the hospital and rehab centers and finally succumbed to diverticulitis at McKee Medical Center in Loveland Co.

With their passing it has left behind a family who though so full of love feeling hurt and lost. After my grandparents passing we have been left with picking up the pieces. Walter was receiving benefits from the VA that supported him and Mary and after his death they were left with very little. Grandpas insurance covered most of the funeral but what was not covered, grandma had to borrow money from her bank and when that wasn't enough we had to borrow from a family friend. So Mary with the help of her son Larry her power of attorney applied to receive her spousal benefits on the behalf of the VA because of Walter's death, a process that could take weeks to months but would help Mary greatly and allow for her to pay off her debts. However the money never showed, while she was in and out of the hospital her family worked hard to stay in touch with the VA to start receiving the money but these attempts were futile.

Almost 3 month following Walters death the money from the VA came through. Unfortunately it came a day late after Mary's passing. With my grandmas death my dad Larrys power of attorney was lost and the money couldn't be touched. To make matters worse that very same day the money was taken back. After many phone calls and discussions we've been told that with her death  the VA took the money back which was deposited not even fourteen hours following her death.

With this being said now my family is left to pay the debts we simply can't afford. The amount we would need to pay off the money borrowed and other unpaid bills is roughly around $10,000.00 any contributions would be greatly appreciated and help the family through this tough time.
