Walls of Freedom Album Project

"From 1988 to 1993 I ran a pretty nice recording studio for a church whose pastor is an immensely gifted singer and musician. The studio was fairly busy with the pastor's projects as well as local, regional and some nationally known artists and groups who did projects there.

It was a dream job – but I felt kind of like a Cinderella locked away in that studio doing everything for everybody and very little of what God was calling me to do. The songs reflect both my crying out to God for direction and the deliverance He brought. Writing and recording these songs was a great outlet for me, but beyond that they were God's gift to me – they ministered to me - as if they were written by someone else. For a time my wife and I were the youth leaders at this church, and the more urban sounding up-tempo songs were birthed out of our times of praise and worship with the kids.

It was a dream job for sure – but my heart seemed to long for something else. In 1993 God began to open up opportunities for me personally to minister in music. I was invited to sing at outreaches, youth functions and also did a few Christian coffeehouses

This began to create conflicts in my schedule as well as in my heart. Eventually I resigned from my ministry duties and employment at the church and had managed to finish all the songs for Walls of Freedom before my departure.

A personal friend offered to finance the making of CD's and Cassettes (remember those??) and Walls of Freedom became a reality!

Now God also put it on the hearts of a couple whose CD I had produced and performed on to bring me to Nashville with them for GMA week to make contacts and “shop” the CD. I officially signed with and an Artist Management company in the Bronx during that week and soon began to perform all throughout NY NJ at concerts, festivals, coffeehouses as well as churches. I even did a mini tour hitting several states all the way down to Florida and back.

This was Dream job number 2! But this one faded away when I began to discover that being a Christian artist was not where my heart was either. Though I ministered to thousands I discovered that God's call on my life was something other than being a Contemporary Christian Artist. When I halted my career, the progress of Walls Of Freedom halted as well. Over time I gave away every copy I had (though I found a few unopened CD's in recent years).

By 2000 I was senior pastor of a Calvary Chapel - and continue to pastor to this day.".

So that's the back story!

Going forward I feel that this project still has a lot of life and great potential to minister to a new and wider audience. That's why I've launched this campaign - to remaster it and manufacture CD's.
