Xavier was born with an extremely rare limb deficiency known as tibial hemimelia - which is a complicated way of saying he is missing his tibias (shin bones).  


From the day he was born, we've been faced with the dilemma of whether or not to amputate his legs. As his parents, this may very well be the most difficult and painful decision we make on his behalf.  How can subtracting something so significant actually end up adding more to his life?

He's a very determined toddler who has learned to get around just fine so far . . .


. . . but  without some kind of drastic measure, Xa will never walk.  

After much research, personal reflection, and tears, we've decided to try reconstructing his left leg and amputating his right leg through the knee.  Neither course of action will be easy or inexpensive.  However, anyone who has the pleasure of knowing Xa - or as you can tell just by looking at his smile - he is the most beautiful, warm-spirited child.  We will do nothing short of everything to ensure his continued happiness.

We ask you to help us reach our goal of providing Xa with every opportunity possible.  If all you can offer is your prayers and well wishes, we'll gladly accept them.  If you're able to donate toward our expenses, we welcome this as well. We're thankful to everyone who has given us an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Our support system has been the backbone of our strength.
