"WALKS by Faith and Not by Sight"

On August 12, 2017, John Evans (my daughters BFF and our "other daughters" DAD) (also, the husband of our dear friend Leslie Evans, who teaches st Southside High School) went riding horses like he has done most Saturday's for the past year. He was suddenly bucked off of his horse unexpectedly. He landed on his head and immediately could not move or feel anything from his neck down. He was airlifted to UAB where he had surgery on his C3-C6 for Central Cord Syndrome and a compressed spinal cord. He is now at The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA where he is receiving medical care and intense therapy. He has a long road ahead and the journey is unknown. As of right now, they plan to keep John until October 18, 2017 for a total of 8 weeks. After that, he will move to outpatient therapy if there is a spot for him. It will be 5 days/week for 6 hours/day for 6 weeks. Insurance will not cover all of these expenses and none for the room to stay in Atlanta for the additional 6 weeks. Many have asked how they can help. Any donation you are able to give John and Leslie will be greatly appreciated. With John out of work, Leslie as his 24hr caregiver at this time, all the unexpected medical bills, and upcoming equipment he will need when he does return home any amount will be a blessing to this family.
