Walking to raise money for Stand easy charity
Those that know me, know I like to set myself a new challenge each year.. I usually question why later!
I am doing a 20 mile walk in May to raise money for Stand Easy. I haven’t asked for donations in a long time, because I understand the pressures everyone is facing with cost of living; but whatever money anyone can spare, I would be grateful.
I am passionate about supporting those with mental health challenges, particularly military with PTSD. I grew up surrounded by the army, my Dad served for 22 years and I have a lot of friends in the army/served in the army, so this is also close to my heart.
I chose this particular charity to support because they use acupuncture as a form of therapy, I am also passionate about the use of alternate therapies, and this charity also offers some sessions for free, so it means it is more accessible for those on lower incomes.
For myself personally, I understand how it feels to have reached a point in your life where things seem overwhelming, you replay scenes over in your head and you become anxious of the outside world. I, like many of my nursing colleagues experienced this during and after the first Covid waves. I didn’t want to go to my GP and turn to medication, so I looked for alternate therapies and my friend recommended acupuncture, I had a few sessions of this and I noticed the difference, I had to work on a few other things and it didn’t change overnight but I have experienced the benefit of this, so I’m a believer in this being used as a tool, although it’s not a magic cure!
I understand times are hard for everyone. So I don’t have a high expectation for funds, so I have set a target of £100. Again whatever anyone can spare, I would be grateful
Thank you so much, wishing everyone an amazing 2024 and much love.
