Naples and Walking for Lowe’s Syndrome

Tax deductible
I be closing this fundraiser Monday 12th June at 1pm.Hello, my  name is Paul, 40 years old from Pelton, County Durham. For those of you that don’t know me I have a learning disability, a visual impairment and Lowe’s Syndrome. Lowe’s Syndrome is a rare generic condition that affects mainly males with the brain, eyes and kidneys being affectd as well as the bones and joints. I was asked to speak at the international Lowe Syndrome conference in Naples on May 24th and 25th.  Its 1551 miles from my front door to Naples, so I chanlleged myself to walk at least 1551 steps a day which started in April 2023. Most of my steps have been in my kitchen as I find it hard to go outdoors due to my vision and need someone with me when outside. I have decided to raise  money for The Lowe Syndrome Trust, which is the only UK based charity for Lowe’s syndrome research.  As well as opening up the conference, I also presented my own PowerPoint which included about my hobbies, my paid employment, my achievements and more. This also included preferred terms and words to use when talking about Lowe’s Syndrome or people with a learning disability This got great feedback from families and professionals. For more information about me and my acheivements or Lowe’s Syndrome and from my perspective, please visit my website which is www.livingwithlowes.com Please note to enter you will need a sense of humour. You can see a link to the Lowe Syndrome Trust on my website on the “contact” page.  Please feel free to sign my guestbook and follow me on Twitter, instagram and Facebook which is @livingwithlowesPlease check here daily for updates on my steps. I’m wanting to show that just because you have a learning disability it shouldn’t stop you from having the same opportunities as everyone else. Inclusion matters. Thank you for visiting. Paul
