Walking against domestic abuse

Tax deductible
For the month of October, I am challenging myself to walk 200 miles (that’s over 10km/6.5m per day) in an effort to raise money for survivors of Domestic Abuse.

BBC News reported that more than 40,000 calls and contacts were made to the National Domestic Abuse Helpline during the first three months of lockdown, most by women and children seeking help.  This is a rise of 80% from before lockdown.

Domestic abuse will affect 1 in 4 women, and statistics have proven that these women are more likely to turn to a confidential support service than to family, friends or police.

Glasgow Women‘s Aid has been supporting women, children and young people who are experiencing Domestic Abuse for over 35 years - they provide important information, as well as confidential support and even emergency refuge accommodation for survivors of domestic abuse and their children.

As little as £50 could allow 10 women to go on a group outing.  £100 could purchase soft furnishings for 3 different refuge flats. £500 could create a fun outdoor space for children to play with their mums.

Do you want to join me in making a difference?  Thank you in advance for your contribution
