<div>Op zondag 4 mei 2025 vertrek ik te voet van Leuven naar Jeruzalem. Een pelgrimstocht van 6600 kilometer om bewustzijn te creëren rond mentale gezondheid.

<div>Gedreven door mijn eigen innerlijke zoektocht, maar nog meer door de uitdagingen waar mijn lieve zus mee te maken krijgt. Het raakt me diep om haar door het leven te zien worstelen, en ik weet dat zij niet de enige is.

<div>Één op de drie mensen krijgt vroeg of laat te maken met psychische problemen. Toch wachten we vaak te lang om hulp te zoeken. Ondertussen verliezen we elke minuut wereldwijd meer dan één persoon aan suïcide. Dat is er telkens één te veel. Maar er is hoop. Laten we praten over onze mentale gezondheid. En organisaties steunen die een verschil maken.

<div>Daarom zamel ik geld in voor het Centrum ter Preventie van Zelfdoding (de Belgische Zelfmoordlijn, 1813). Met jouw donatie kunnen zij vrijwilligers opleiden, workshops organiseren en mensen in crisis een luisterend oor bieden. Gratis en anoniem.

<div>Met deze tocht wil ik:

<li>De drempel om hulp te zoeken verlagen

<li>Mensen inspireren om weer te verbinden – met zichzelf, anderen en de natuur

<div>Ik hoop, met een klein budget en de hulp van donaties, na 10 tot 12 maanden Jeruzalem te bereiken.

<div>In mijn rugzak draag ik mijn tent, slaapzak, een vuurtje en wat kledij. Door buiten te slapen en onderweg om hulp te vragen, probeer ik mijn kosten zo laag mogelijk te houden.

<div>Een deel van het ingezamelde geld zal gebruikt worden voor eten, visa en, indien nodig, nieuw materiaal onderweg (zoals schoenen).
</div>

</div>
<div>De rest gaat volledig naar het goede doel.
</div>

</div>
<div>Stap mee in het doorbreken van het stigma rond psychische problemen. Want samen kunnen we een wereld creëren waarin kwetsbaarheid tonen als iets sterks wordt gezien. Alle donaties zullen enorm geapprecieerd worden.

<div>On Sunday, the 4th of May 2025, I'll start walking from Leuven (Belgium) to Jerusalem. A pilgrimage of 6600 kilometers to raise mental health awareness.

<div>Driven by my own inner journey, but even more by the challenges my dear sister faces. It deeply moves me to see her struggle through life, and I know she is not the only one.

<div>One in three people will face mental health issues sooner or later. Yet we often wait too long to look for help. Meanwhile, we lose more than one person to suicide every minute worldwide. Each time, that’s one too many. But there's hope. Let's talk about our mental health. And support organisations that make a difference.

<div>That’s why I’m raising money for the Centre for Suicide Prevention (the Belgian Suicide Line, 1813). With your donation, they can train volunteers, organize workshops, and provide a listening ear to people in crisis. Free and anonymous.
</div>

<div>With this journey, I want to:

<li>Lower the threshold for seeking help
</li>
<li>Inspire people to reconnect – with themselves, each other, and nature

<div>I hope to reach Jerusalem in 10 to 12 months, with a small budget and the help of donations.

<div>In my backpack, I carry my tent, sleeping bag, a fire, and some clothes. By sleeping outside and asking for help along the way, I try to lower my expenses as much as possible.
</div>

<div>Part of the money raised will go to food, visas and when needed new material along the way (like shoes).
</div>

</div>
<div>All the rest will go entirely to charity.
</div>
