Walden - An Environmental Short Film

About Me
My name is Daniel Wroblewski and I am a Senior attending the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee for a degree in Film. Walden will be my Senior project I spend this entire school year on to cap off my studies at UWM. It is the biggest project I will have ever done, and I need your help to raise funds for it.
A lot of my past works over my career at UWM have had this nature and environment focus that this project will also follow. Examples include Entlumi Bisporus and Rails of Passage. More of my other works can be seen at my website .
I also have experience in crowdfunding, this will be my second GoFundMe after my Eagle Project surpassed my goal in 2017. I raised a total of over $2,600 for my Eagle Project to complete my goal of renovating the Green Room at Whitnall High School, utilizing both GoFundMe and by holding a concert.
Film Synopsis
The short will follow James taking his friend Robin into the forest to try and show them the beauty of it. As they approach a waterfall that runs through a canyon, James tries to get Robin to slow down and simply listen to the sounds around them. As they do so, the film enters a montage highlighting elements of the outdoors and the sounds that make it up. It will start small scale and macro, looking at plants, rocks, and streams. Over time it grows and expands into larger scale scenes, covering large rocky bluffs and rushing waterfalls, growing with the musical score. The overall arching themes of the film is sound and the way it interacts with the environment, as well as the beauty of the outdoors.
Filming is planned to commence mid-October, with film locations including but not limited to Devil's Lake, Governor Dodge, Cave Point State Park, Kohler Andrae, Horicon Marsh, Parfrey's Glen, Wisconsin Dells, Peninsula State Park, and Seven Bridges.
Funding Use
I am asking for only $1250 to be able to accomplish everything I would like to do for this short film. It may not seem like much but having this money will allow me to really turn up the production value of this piece. The funds would be used for costumes, gear rental, music composition, and logistical needs (Transportation, Parking, Food, etc.).
Costumes are often overlooked in short films, so I wanted to pay special attention to them for my piece. The costumes I have created require me to buy a few pieces I do not have yet. Luckily, I own a lot of my own gear, so I do not need to rent much. But I will need a few more pieces like ND Filters and a few lenses. As music will play a big role in the film, I need funds to be able to have music commissioned for the piece. Lastly I need funds for other logistical items like parking, food for actors and crew, transportation, just miscellaneous things.
Project Completion
As mentioned previously, this short film is my final Senior project to graduate from UWM. As such, the short film will have a slated completion date at the end of my Senior year in May 2021.
