The Wakes-Miller Family

Our northern beaches community has been absolutely devastated by the passing of one of our most precious young men on Saturday night, 18th July 2020.

A Year 11 student at St Augustines College in Brookvale and a former student of Allambie Heights Public School, Barney Wakes-Miller was on the verge of adulthood when he was involved in a tragic accident.

An accident with teenagers and cars you hope never happens to anyone you know. But heartbreakingly it did. To one of the most adored, generous and loving families on the Beaches.

A sibling of four, Barney was the family rainbow. A complex mix of light and shade who gave everything he did 110 per cent - from his brilliant artwork, to the love for his family and passion for life.

It is impossible to get our heads around this unspeakable loss of young life and we are all absolutely shattered for beautiful Barney and his family – Duncan, Bella, Arthur, Tenzin and Iona.

Due to the number of people reaching out asking how they can help, we have decided to set up a GoFundMe page to channel this help in a practical way - rather than the family being inundated with gifts or flowers.

Any monies raised here will go directly to Duncan and Bella to be used at their discretion towards anything they need to help them through this crisis – now or in the future. This could be towards funeral costs, a memorial bench or plaque for Barney,  household expenses,  a family holiday or weekend away - we will leave it to them to decide.

Words simply cannot express our grief. We hope that this page enables those grieving in our tight-knit community or beyond to find some small comfort in being able to support the family at this most sad and difficult time.

The arms of our community will envelop them. Please give what you can to help our dear friends. Thank you for all your love and support.
