Wahyu's visit to Australia

Donation protected
Greetings! I have a really good Deaf Balinese friend whom I know from my travels to Bali. His name is Wahyu. He works as a driver and a tour guide to both Deaf and hearing people. Wahyu was born on a nearby island, Flores, and grew up in Bali. He has never travelled outside of Indonesia, yet he is almost fluent in several sign languages, as he meets hundreds, if not thousands, of international Deaf travellers who come to Bali. Wahyu is one of the kindest, gentlest and most patient people I have ever known. I am sure other people who have  met him will agree. He has a dream to visit Australia.  I am helping him with this project. Please read his message below.

Namaste,

James

"Om suastiastu (Hello),

My name is Wahyu Cahyadi.  I am from Bali, Indonesia. I am Deaf.

I work as a driver and tour guide in Bali for both Deaf and hearing people. My business is called Bali Deaf Guide.

I am married. My wife's name is Putu and our 3-year-old son's name is Noah.

It is my dream to visit Australia to experience the Australian culture.

I want to know your country and culture better.

I meet many Deaf Australians who travel to Bali.

I would like to visit Australia for one week in January, 2018, to see the Australian Deaf Games in Albury/Wodonga and see Sydney,  Canberra and Melbourne.

To achieve my dream to visit Australia, I need some help in raising money.

My goal of $2000 (Australian dollars) will assist me in buying a return flight ticket for Denpasar-Sydney-Melbourne-Denpasar, travel insurance for 7-14  days, tourist visa (I already have my Indonesian passport), registration ticket for about two days at the Australian Deaf Games, car hire from Sydney to Canberra (my friend James, has volunteered his time to drive and guide me in Sydney, and Canberra,  daily food and accommodation expenses and also to provide my family in Bali for the 1-2 weeks I am in Australia as in that time, that I will lose income from not working in Bali. A deaf friend from Canberra will drive me to Albury and then after the Deaf Games is over, some Melbourne Deaf friends who will be at the Games will drivde me to Melbourne. After a few days in Melbourne sightseeing, I will fly home to Bali.

I will need to raise $2000 by the end of this November so I can book my travel.

While I am in Australia, I hope Deaf and hearing Australians ask me questions about Bali and enquire about travelling to Bali and booking me as a driver and guide.

My Australian Deaf friend, James Kerwin, is assisting me in this project.

This experience travelling in Australia will help me improve me as a tour guide in Bali.

It would make me very happy if I achieve this dream and I will be very grateful to learn more about Australia and meet more Deaf and hearing Australians both in Australia and when you travel to  Bali.

Terima kasih (Thank you),

Wahyu"
