WAGS CHRISTMAS KILL SHELTER RESCUE 23 DEC 20

Where shall we begin with this heart breaker.  :’(  Its shocking but sadly true.  Our lovely rescuer has again today taken THE CALL.  THE CALL the entire team dreads. The one we all hate to hear but have to hear.  Its nearing kill day again.  The kill shelter is full, and with covid running  rife through the Balkans, and borders opening and closing with lockdowns  all the time,  it means that many of the kill shelters already poorly resourced, and under staffed are running at a minimum on skeleton staff due to covid infections.  They want to completely close down for Christmas and be closed for two whole weeks to get staff well and back in again and deep clean the premises. These places are barbaric but the only place the dogs who live feral on the street can go when they’re caught and taken in by the authorities.  This means one thing. That all the dogs in there if not adopted or claimed by people before 23rd December, will be killed to enable the kill shelter to close for a whole two weeks period to clear covid out of there amongst the staff.  This is barbaric beyond belief.  They simply do not care about these poor dogs. Life is cheap, its nothing, they think nothing of putting a dog to death. No conscience, no compassion, totally devoid almost of any human compassion at all. Normally we get a list of dogs who have outstayed their welcome and who will be killed next but this time, its even worse, its all.  ALL DOGS. Including puppies that the kill shelter keep running feral in the yard when they are too young to be in with the big dogs in kennels. Even tiny puppies like the ones filmed here yesterday in the shelter yard, just roaming, all will be killed if we cannot raise enough to take them out to save every single one. What the hell are we supposed to do.  We are but one small rescue struggling to survive with the dogs we have, let alone taking on more. And with Brexit looming and laws no doubt changing again, it could be even harder with more rules and regulations coming into play to get the transports safely into the UK via eurotunnel.  We all know the recent problems that have arisen at eurotunnel and we all know these are temporarily overcome for now, but with a no deal brexit looming, then everything could change again after 31st January 2021. Our aim, and call us crazy if you wish, but this is a genuine goal, a genuine aim and we feel we can do it, if we have you on board to help us.  We want to save every dog in the shelter before Christmas. Every dog who is still there, and who will be killed if we don’t take them.  Im sure, with your help that we stand a chance of being able to do this  Im begging you, please please please help us.  We need donations, of any amount, or size, because every £1 helps the cause.  We need to save every last dog in there and reserve them before 23rd December. Our team will go in again on the 23rd and take out all those who are left, IF, AND IT’S A BIG BIG IF, IF WE CAN RAISE ENOUGH to cover board for all of them for month one, vaccinations, neutering, spaying, 4d blood tests, and parasite meds for all we take.  We know for sure some will be claimed before 23 December but we estimate we will be taking between 24 and 45 dogs out.  If the spirit of Christmas is alive and well, then please, be their chance, their last chance, their one and only remaining chance to live.  PLEASE.  If we don’t raise enough to cover their immediate costs coming out, then we cannot do it. Whats the point in saving any dog if we don’t have the resources to ensure that dog is well, and vaccinated and healthy.  Its half a rescue if we don’t fullfill our obligation to each and every dog to health check them and make them healthy to be adopted.  I think Ive said enough. I think you get the picture now of what were up against.  I can tug on the heart strings I can be as brutally frank as you want me to be, OR NOT, but that’s the truth.  The target is 2500 euros to cover all the immediate costs for these dogs during the first month that we take them.  If we don’t reach it, then we can only take some, not all.  And some will have to be left behind to die.  Please don’t let our rescuers have to make that decision of who lives and who dies. Their lives are hard enough as it is, with the daily brutality they see on the streets every day from the public who are barbaric to the street dogs. Please don’t let them have to make the very sad but real decision of who to save and who not to save. That’s just too much to ask of any of them.  How on earth can they enjoy Christmas knowing they had to leave some behind.  For me, that’s not an option.  THIS ALL NOW DEPENDS ON YOU AND IF YOU CAN HELP US TO COVER THE COSTS OF RESCUING THEM ALL.  I BEG, I BEG AND I PLEAD AND I ASK FOR MERCY FOR THESE DOGS.  Please be by our side and remember all of us why we do this.  Because we have the power to save them, so why wouldn’t we  ??????
