Texas is one of the leading states with the largest number of Heartworm Positive dogs.
When WAG Rescue takes in a dog, one of the first things we do is test for heartworms. Unfortunately a growing number of dogs are testing positive, and WAG Rescue currently has four heartworm positive dogs at our refuge - Porsche, Paris, Lefty and Stella.
If left untreated, Heartworm disease is serious and potentially fatal - and can subject the dog to a long and debilitating illness, ultimately leading to the dog’s death.
The four dogs we are treating now are some of the lucky ones. We can successfully cure them of the heartworms, and they can go on to live full, happy and healthy lives.
But - Heartworm treatment is long, painful and very expensive. Our goal is to raise $4,000 to offset some of the cost incurred to care for these dogs while they are in treatment. Can you help? All of the pups thank you!
