Waffle needs to have her gallbladder removed

Donation protected
My name is Tom Londe, and I have unfortunately had to set up this fundraiser in hopes of getting help for my pup, Waffle. I've had Waffle for six years, and she's been my one steady companion during my time in Bozeman. At the start of February, she started having some health issues. After several after-hours visits to the emergency vet that weekend and follow-up visits over the last month, we've landed on her having a mucocele in her gallbladder. In short, a toxic sludge build-up. Waffle's current cocktail of drugs keeps the symptoms in check, but the mucocele has not gone down and the next step is removing the gallbladder to prevent a rupture (which would be a much more significant and dangerous issue). That surgery and the associated costs will run about $4000. Unfortunately, I'm already $3000-4000 deep into this just to get it diagnosed and the initial infection handled, so I'm tapped out financially. The vet would like to get her in within the next few weeks to ensure we get it out before it ruptures. I was very hesitant to go down the crowdfunding road, but after pursuing other options, this looks like it might be one of my last shots to take care of the ol' gal.

A quick point of transparency... Waffle is 12 years old, which is around the average lifespan for pugs. However, she still acts like a bright, happy, energetic dog. She doesn't behave like a pup that's on her last legs. I talked about this with the specialist yesterday. He confirmed that part of the diagnosis process was going over her with a fine-toothed comb (X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests, etc), and that there were no other health-related points of concern that jumped out to him during his assessment. I also chatted with my usual vet today to get her read on the situation. There is not a feeling for either of them that we would be spending this money to extend her life just a little bit. Obviously nothing is for sure, but the consensus is that she still has some miles left on the treads.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this. I would be incredibly appreciative of anything you would be able to do, whether it's donating or just sharing this post. The last six years with Waffle haven't always been smooth and she's often been a bit of a pain... but she's been my pain, and the apartment would be a lot emptier without her around. If you're ever in Bozeman, nothing would make Waffle happier than to thank you directly and have new people to say hi to.

Taken the day I brought her home for the first time in 2016:
