Justice for Jovontay Williams

JUSTICE FOR JOVONTAY

Hello, my name is Christa Williams. On June 13th, 2022, at 9:56 am and my son Jovontay Williams died while in the custody of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. We believe he died after being taken to the hospital for medical issues, stated CMPD. Jovontay has never had any medical issues. A true native of Charlotte, NC. His body was kidnapped for 12 days. They labeled him as John Doe when he was helicoptered to Cabarrus County hospital where he later died. There were no drugs found, a licensed gun, and no criminal record. His Civil Rights were violated. The CMPD, Fire, and EMS are responsible for his death. All departments and the The City of Charlotte will be held accountable for his death.

COURT ORDER

I have been under a Court order to not show the Police body cam. It has been almost 8 months and we are still waiting for justice for him. We are currently waiting for his autopsy report from the State's medical examiner and we have not been successful. I have ordered the body cam to be Public.

BACKGROUND

Jovontay was a good father, a man of integrity, loyal to family/friends, and a great person. Jovontay would light up a room with his wit and smile. Jovontay never met a stranger, those who knew him would agree. He was self-employed and provided for his son and family.

Graduating from Redan High School, Lithonia, GA in 2008 recognized by Dekalb County as First Team All-County Honoree. He furthered his football career at Johnson C. Smith University in his hometown of Charlotte, NC. He was honored as an All-Defensive Player of the Year for 2 consecutive years for Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Ranked #2 in the Country by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Jovontay was one of the Top Prospects of the 2015 National Football League (NFL). 

INVESTIGATION STANDS

Case Closed. He just died. (unsolved)

EXPENSES FOR FAMILY

We have hired a Private Investigator to assist with his death, a new Attorney, and National Civil Rights Activist, John Barnett.
