I am raising money for the Charity Africa's Gift, aiming to change the lives of women and children in South Africa. In June 2019, I am going on a humanitarian trip to Lesotho in South Africa with a group of other students, staff and graduates from Sheffield Hallam University and Africa's Gift.
In Lesotho, women's life expectancy is 54 years. According to the World Health Organisation, more than 4 million people die due to smoke inhalation from cooking on open fires and smoke damage is also the main cause of blindness in the developing world. We will be taking Wonderbags into rural communities, which act as slow cookers, enabling the women to spend less time cooking on open fires and more time with their children or engaging in work and education. For more information on the Wonderbag, please visit https://wonderbag.org/?fbclid=IwAR1AwBXghwC7rTMRP9qOe89r8qgF_sGEk825rOn2o7qol0yhHNIe0m58oXY
We are also collecting school shoes for children in the communities, as they are unable to attend school without shoes. We will be engaging in both South Africa and Lesotho in communities and undertaking work involving domestic violence projects.
I will be running the Tatton Park 10k run on 14th April 2019 to raise money for the trip. Please sponsor me and donate anything you can to this page. Thank you so much!
