Nancy Wang Stroke Hospital Bill

Hi everyone. Through separate donations and negotiations with the hospital, the amount we have raised is sufficient to cover her hospital expenses, as well as contribute to her physical, occupational, and speech therapy costs over the next couple months. My family fully believes that God will provide for any more future expenses down the road, so we are closing donations now. Thank you SO much to everyone who has donated or reached out to us. We are eternally grateful and blessed to have such a loving and supportive community all around the world. Thank you so much for being there for us during this difficult time. We continue to pray for her speedy recovery and improvements every day.

Updates:  January 19: Nancy has returned home yesterday! She will continue physical therapy as an outpatient on Monday.

January 8: A few days ago, the therapists began helping Nancy walk. She can now move her left side, though it is still extremely weak.

January 4: Slightly more feeling and movement on the left side. She is continuing therapy and had her first acupuncture session last night.

December 29: Last night, Nancy was released from the stroke unit and moved to the rehab center. Today was her first day of rehab and she had a long and busy day with almost 4 hours of physical, occupational, and speech therapy. She made great progress with her left hip and is working hard to get better. She will be here for 2-3 weeks.

December 27: Nancy has been  stable for the past few days, so they moved her to a the stroke unit in the hospital today. She is still numb on her left side and cannot move it voluntarily, but they started PT, OT and speech therapy with her. She currently is on a dysphagic diet so everything is pureed. As for her left side, she did start feeling sensation on various areas, such as her face, feet and arm. However, she says that it comes and goes. We continue to pray that everyday she will continue to get better. Eventually they will move her to the rehab center in the hospital for about 2 weeks once she is even more stable and then outpatient rehab for another 3-6 months depending on how long it takes for her to recover. Thank you all for your continuous prayers and support.

December 26th: The doctors are trying to move her to a regular care room today. She has much more of an appetite now and keeps asking for congee, beef jerky and junk foods like chocolate, french fries, and cheetos (though we can't really give her any of those, except the congee yet). Shes been talking a lot today and yesterday and likes listening to her Chinese Christian songs (yi li mai zi) or listening to the Bible, particularly 1 John.

On December 24th around 11 AM, she had a reaction to the doctor messing with her left foot. She wasn't mentally aware that she reacted, but we all saw her foot fidget around. This is good news as we believe her feeling is slowly coming back.

On December 23rd around 10 AM, the doctors took the 3rd CT scan. It looks like the blood burst has stayed the same and she is currently stable. We are focusing on her recovery and gaining more strength in the next few days. She was able to drink thicker fluids and eat some soft foods today.

Original Post: Hi everyone. On December 21st, 2017 around 8 PM, my mom suddenly felt numbness on her entire left side of her body. We took her blood pressure and found it to be 190/110. A couple minutes later, she could not move her left side of her body. We called the ambulance and she was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with intercerebral hemorrhagic stroke in the right side of her brain.

For those of you who don’t know, this is when an artery in the brain bursts. The intracerebral brain is also very sensitive because it is in the thalamic region, which affects a lot of the nerves and controls a lot of her body. Only about 15% of people who get strokes get hemorrhagic strokes. About 1/2 of them survive and only about 1/3 of them fully recover from neurological damages. We are praying a lot for her and hope to get her the best care we can. We were in the process of getting her insurance changed, so unfortunately, she is currently not covered. The doctors say that she will need to stay about 3-6 days at least in the hospital in the ICU and will need to take multiple CT scans and therapy over the next 3-6 months. The costs are estimated to be about $60,000 just for hospital stay and tests for the next few days. Any help is greatly appreciated right now.

In the picture below, you can see the white spot is the blood and it was about 3 cm. This morning on December 22nd, they took another CT scan and found that it has grown a little bit and surgery is now being considered.

Our mom is the most pure, caring and considerate person you will ever meet. She always wants the best for everyone. She consistently puts others ahead of herself, no matter how it affects her. Even when she was going through this, she kept trying to act like everything was okay and that she'll be fine because she didn't want us to worry. She keeps saying that she wants to practice walking, so that it will be easier for our dad when he helps her. Every time, we come home from college, she immediately prepares everything for us and showers us with love, support, and happiness. She constantly tells us about her day and wants to hear about ours. She finds joy in the littlest things, like when she finds her favorite Reese's candy on sale. People have always complimented her on how young she seems. She's only 53 and we really hope that she will make it out okay. We pray that she will still be that lively, active, mom that she's always been. Please pray for her recovery during this time and peace with our family.

Please consider donating and also sharing this post to help us raise money! Every amount counts and will help us greatly. Thank you in advance and thank you SO, SO much to everyone who has already donated.
