In 2008 following a horrific unprovoked knife attack on Oliver Hemsley in London, which left him paralysed from the neck down, Oli's brother Will and a few friends, including myself, set out on the first Ride2Recovery to raise money to help Oli adjust to life after his injuries.
A bit more on Oli's story here. Crucial to Oli's recovery was the role played by an amazing charity, Aspire , which is dedicated to help people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, supporting them from injury to independence. We co
The original Ride2Recovery took place in 2009 with an epic 900km cycle from London to the French Alps. 10 years later and we've raised more than $500,000 for Oli, Aspire and CATS , a charity to help families with children suffering from Tay Sachs after another good friend lost their beautiful daughter, Amelie, to this tragic illness at the age of 8.
On September 8th we undertake our 4th mammoth effort and by far our toughest challenge to date tackling 850km and 20,000m of climbing through the Italian, Swiss and French Apls. As ever, I'll be raising money for some amazing causes:
Aspire - a charity dedicated to providing practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, supporting them from injury to independence
Tiny Tickers - a charity supporting the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions.
