Save Rocky!

Monday, the 20th of August, was a day like any other for the Cash Family, who live in Gordonsville, Virginia. They arrived home after a long day of work and took their two beloved Labs, Buster and Rocky, for a walk in the neighborhood. Buster and Rocky are brothers and have been much loved companions for the Cash family for 8 years and friends to everyone in the neighborhood.

Returning home, Mom Michelle runs inside to use the bathroom leaving the dogs outside for a few minutes. They usually have collars to keep them in the yard, which they remove when they go for a walk.

As Michelle returns outside, she sees that Rocky was missing and suddenly hears a gunshot. She screamed and ran towards the sound to find her beloved dog Rocky on the ground in a ditch and dying, shot in the face by a neighbor on Loving Lane, Gary Wermter.

Rocky was found in a ditch, trying to stay alive, with blood pouring out of his face. Michelle immediately sought medical treatment to save Rocky's life, taking him to Crossroads Animal Hospital, who helped to stabilize him and saved his life.

Thanks to wonderful veterinarians at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Gordonsville, Rocky is alive today, but clearly traumatized and has a damaged jaw he is starting to recover from.

Gary Wermter, the man who shot sweet Rocky, has repeatedly said he wants to kill every dog in the neighborhood, and a few years ago, ran over a small dog that escaped from a young boy who was walking him. When questioned by the Sheriff's Deputies, he claimed that in the 3 minutes Michelle was in the restroom at her house about 100 yards away, Rocky was chasing livestock on his property, so he shot him. Never mind he saw Michelle walking by with the dogs on a leash minutes before. Because of laws that allow people to protect livestock, Gary will not be charged for maliciously shooting his neighbors' dogs in the face.

The Cash Family need help to recover from the tremendous veterinary bills that were needed to save their beloved Rocky.

Any amount you can spare to help the Cash recover from this tremendous financial, and emotional, blow would be greatly appreciated. So far, costs are already about $7000.00, with more bills expected.
