On friday July 7th one of my very best friends shared some of the most exciting news with a couple of friends and I, she was expecting! Although we were all over the moon excited (as we knew she had been trying for one more little bundle of joy), this joy also came with some worry.
Back in 2015 Lisa suffered a miscarriage at 14 weeks, and eventhough we all know Gods plan is far bigger than our understanding it is still so heartbreaking to lose a child.
On July 28th Lisa and Tony had their first ultrasound and everything was looking good, at first the doctor thought it was twins but then said it was just the yolk sac. I of course, being the sweet friend I am, assured her it was twins and they only thought it was a yolk sac. Then, much to our surprise on August 1 the second ultrasound revealed Lisa and Tony were indeed having twins. We quickly started planning the gender reveal, and buying diapers because we knew they would need a LOT of those, never were they prepared for the news they were about to receive. On monday September 25th Lisa went to her specialist for an ultrasound, and to find out the gender for the reveal coming up that Friday, but instead she recieved some devastating news. She learned that Baby A has no abdominal wall and its heart and all organs are exposed, (this is a condition referred to as Pentalogy of Cantrell, and with this syndrome there have been no survivors), the baby also has a blockage in its bladder, and spina bifida. Baby B at this time is still looking healthy; however, these twins are identical and are sharing the same placenta so this could be detrimental for baby B if the Doctors Grim prognosis is accurate, and baby A passes in utero as he expects. This could cause baby B to pass as well, the only way to save Baby B is for the doctors to sever the placenta so if baby A passes it wouldn't affect baby B. The closest hospital to this family that performs this surgery is in Houston, Texas. As we all know, insurance only covers so much so there will be out of pocket expenses for lisa and the babies to recieve this procedure. There will also be travel expenses and not to mention Tony missing work and two more precious girls at home depending on their mommy and daddy. If you could please donate any amount you can, I know it would be more than appreciated. This is a difficult time and things have to be set into motion quickly and there is going to be quite a bit of planning involved. Now, we know our god is bigger and all of these things could unfold into something totally different and these sweet angels could fool these Doctors! So this is where I ask, that you also pray and pray hard for a miracle and thank God that we know he is in the healing business and we know that he has something up his sleeve.
