Kigali Book Project

Donation protected
Inspired by my Rwandan exchange student, Portia Mitima, I started the Kigali Book Project at the beginning of my freshman year. My project aims to fill the shelves of the first public library in Rwanda. Since Rwanda spent most of their money on the infrastructure of the library, the building was not stocked with many books, especially children’s books. I believed this was a wonderful opportunity for me to contribute to Portia’s country and spread the wealth of knowledge that I enjoyed as a child.

Over the course of two years, with the help of 21st Century Leaders, Grady High School and the Atlanta community, I collected over 3,500 children's books for my first shipment to send to the Kigali Library in Rwanda.

Now, as a rising senior, I have collected another 6,000 books for a second shipment. But I need your help to get this show on the road.

I need $6,000 to send these books to Kigali, but a generous donor has promised to match the funds that I collect. So every dollar counts (as $2)!

Thank you!
