WAM! Back to School Drive

WAM! is a nonprofit organization whose strategic focus is to develop self-actualized youth by improving access to quality out-of-school time programming for pre-teens and teenagers labeled as vulnerable, at-risk, or high-risk.   We seek to engage, empower and inspire youth ages 9-18 to enjoy, expand, experience and participate in the world of music.   Our evidenced based after school academy and summer cultural exploration camp activities include music appreciation, music production & entertainment, sound production, social media management, art & design and mix academy.

Supportive services and strategies will focus on youth personal and social development, leadership, mentoring, and entrepreneurship.  Students will engage in experimental learning through site-based activities including cultural exchanges, museum tours and music festival expeditions.

Over  40,000 children in Louisville, KY live in poverty according to the 2014 Census Bureau. Children in poverty often lack the necessary school supplies critical to academic achievement. WAM!'s main goal for the backpack drive is to ensure that children have the necessary supplies to participate in school which can reduce truancy, promote learning, and build positive self-esteem.

WAM!'s  goal is to provide more than 400 children living in the Metropolitan Louisville area with backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies so they feel empowered in school.

 
Become a WAM! Backpack Sponsor – Individuals, organizations, or corporations can choose to sponsor the WAM! Backpack program and help provide backpacks and school supplies to children who need it most.
