Drie kindjes, drie levens …

Jammer genoeg nog maar twee waar effectief voor gezorgd mag worden. 

Op 12 november 2017 verloor ons zoontje Ties op 3,5 jarige leeftijd de strijd tegen kanker. Een jaar lang heeft hij alles gegeven om zijn hersentumor te kunnen overleven. De oneerlijke en zeer zware strijd  had geen vat op zijn enthousiasme en levenslust. Tot het laatste  moment heeft Ties alles wat hij maar kon uit zijn jonge leven gehaald.

Ook wij, zijn papa, mama en zusjes zijn blij met het jaar dat Ties nog bij ons mocht zijn.  Zijn enthousiasme maakte ons enthousiast. Zijn levenskracht gaf ons kracht. Met ons gezin hebben we er ondanks Ties zijn pijn, zijn verdriet, ons verdriet een heel warm jaar van gemaakt.

Ook nu, na zijn dood, willen we zijn enthousiasme, zijn kracht en de warmte van ons gezin blijven voelen en het liefst van al doorgeven aan anderen. Vandaar de oprichting van onze zorgboerderij, vzw LouTieJu.

Met de rugzak die we zelf meedragen, is het initiatief gegroeid om als particulier een zorgboerderij op te richten. Het doel is een plaats te creëren tussen de dieren en in de natuur waar iedereen met zijn kwaliteiten zichzelf kan zijn.  Binnen de werking van de zorgboerderij  wordt er door de rugzak gekeken die mensen met zich meedragen. De focus ligt op de sterktes van het individu en de verdere ontwikkeling hiervan. Door de nadruk hierop te leggen kan het individu successen ervaren waardoor het welbevinden en zelfvertrouwen op een positieve manier worden beïnvloed.

De zorgboerderij is er voor elke persoon die om de één of andere reden niet alle keuzemogelijkheden heeft om op een volwaardige manier aan de maatschappij te participeren. 
 Zo wil de zorgboerderij er zijn voor:
* mensen met een fysieke of mentale beperking of een gedragsaandoening
* mensen met verminderde fysieke of mentale gezondheid
* kinderen en jongeren die opgroeien in een minder stabiele thuisomgeving  
* ouderen die omwille van hun leefsituatie minder autonoom kunnen handelen of minder sociale contacten hebben
* mensen die een zwaar verlies geleden hebben binnen hun gezin of een persoonlijk trauma hebben geleden

De zorgboerderij wil er zijn voor een breed publiek waarvan ieder zijn eigen rugzak meedraagt.

Met het geld dat we ophalen willen we de zorgboerderij verder uitbouwen. Er dient nog een rolstoelvriendelijke stal gebouwd te      worden alsook een polyvalente ruimte met snoezelruimte. Deze ruimte zal gebruikt worden om samen te koken, voor de muziektherapie, om de geitenmelk te verwerken alsook de oogst uit de moestuin en boomgaard.

Tijdens de ziekte van ons zoontje merkten we zelf dat er weinig initiatieven zijn waar je met een persoon met extra noden naar toe kan om wat te ontspannen en rust te vinden. Wij willen ons steentje bijdragen om er te zijn voor diegenen die meer noden hebben dan anderen, want iedereen heeft recht op ontspanning en het vinden van rust. 

We stellen alles in het werk om deze zorgboerderij verder uit te bouwen. Dit initiatief komt voort uit het grote verlies dat ons gezin geleden heeft. Met dit initiatief blijven we wel over ons zoontje praten en houden we hem op deze manier in leven.

In januari 2020 zouden we graag met de bouw willen starten.

Three children, three lives...

Unfortunately, there are only two left that can be actually taken care of.

On the 12th of November 2017, our son Ties lost his battle against cancer at the tender age of 3 and a half. For a year before his death he had given his all to survive his brain tumour. The unfair and very hard fight had no influence on his enthusiasm and zest for life. Ties managed to squeeze everything he possibly could out of his young life.

We - his dad, mum and sisters - are grateful for the year that Ties got to be with us after his diagnosis. His enthusiasm inspired us all. His life force gave us strength. With our own little family we made it a very warm year despite Ties' pain, his sadness and ours.

Even now, after his death, we want to continue to hold on to his enthusiasm, his strength and the warmth of our family and if possible pass it on to others. Hence the establishment of our care farm, LouTieJu, a non-profit organisation.

Our goal is to create a place among animals, a place close to nature, where everybody, regardless of their personal baggage and with their own qualities, can completely be themselves.
Within the working of the care farm we will look beyond personal boundaries. Our focus lies with the strengths of the individual and their further development. By placing the emphasis on this, one can experience successes, which can positively influence well-being and self-confidence.

The care farm is for every person who, for one reason or another, does not have all the possibilities to participate fully in society.

 In this way the care farm wants to be there for:

* people with a physical or mental disability or a behavioural disorder

* people with reduced physical or mental health

* children and young people who grow up in an unstable home environment 

* elderly people who, because of their living situation, are less able to act autonomously or have fewer social contacts

* people who have suffered a heavy loss within their family or have suffered a personal trauma

The care farm wants to be there for a wide audience, each with their own unique personal background.

 With the money we raise, we want to expand the care farm further. There is still a wheelchair friendly stable to be built as well as a multipurpose room with snuggle corner . This space will be used for cooking together, for music therapy, to process the goat's milk as well as the harvest from the vegetable garden and orchard.

During our son's illness we discovered first hand that there are precious few initiatives where you can take a person with extra needs for some much-needed relaxation and to find some rest. We want to do our bit to try and be supportive of them, because everyone has the right to relax and find peace.
 
The initiative for our care farm stems from the great loss our family has suffered. Running our care farm lets us talk about our son and keep him alive in a different way.
