High Time to Raise Fund to support a Girl Child

Doação protegida

Hello Sir and Madam:

I come from an Urban Poor Family. My parents are hardworking immigrants, every penny they save is also taxed by the government. They both have borrowed loan for my education. Is it necessary that student graduating from University has a load of loan to repay? Is it only for the elites to graduate from university without any loan money? Please help me with my education and I promise to pay it forward to another kid in need. Ever since I was a child, I observed people around me seemed to be suffering from some form of emotional or mental illness: my grandfather suffered from PTSD, after having served in the Indian Army for several years and my aunt suffered from schizophrenia. Realizing that there was a solution to their suffering helped spark a special connection within me. I would listen to people's problems and always try to offer creative and empathetic solutions. From that moment, I felt that I have a gift to observe that no one else noticed. This allowed me to make detailed observations of the world around me. I hope to utilize these skills by becoming a doctor so that in the future, I can help people and  innovate new diagnostic methods.

Through my Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology course taken in school, I was amazed by the complexity of the human mind, thereby further increasing my interest in science. I also volunteered at a hospital and family physician's office every week. Through volunteering, I was able to gain both confidence and experience by face-to-face interactions with patients. I got a chance to see how doctors interact and communicate with one another, teaching me the importance of teamwork. Furthermore, starting at the age of 13, I obtained my life saving skills and I am now a certified lifeguard trained in Standard First Aid. As a lifeguard, I take pride in knowing that everyday serves as preparation for working in the medical field, since I find that a lifeguard's and doctor's experience go hand in hand.

In high school, I have consistently achieved honour roll every year. This proves the level of dedication I have put towards my education and how I will continue to do throughout university and may be in my postgraduate studies. At school, I engaged in various extracurricular activities, one being HOSA-Future Health Professionals. This program allows students to demonstrate their passion for medicine. I am hard working, responsible, intelligent student.  In university as well, I continue to engage in as many extracurriculars as I can. For example, medical society and surgical society to network and gain confidence in the medical field.

I am currently enrolled in 2nd year of Medicine Program at one of prestigious universities in Ireland as an International Student from Canada. As many will question if the fees was so expensive, why did I choose to study outside of Canada?

The answer is, because if we wish to pursue Medicine in North America, we have to complete at least an undergraduate degree program of 4 years, then take the MCAT and apply for Medical School in Canada.  Despite this, there is no guarantee that I will be admitted to a Canadian Medical School.  I have seen so many students who have given up their dreams because they were not admitted to a medical school and they were so far in debt that they gave up on their dreams. I don't want to give up on my dream of becoming a doctor.  I am an only child of my parents and they are both working hard, saving each penny.  They have also taken out a mortgage against our primary and only residence from the bank.

I am working as hard as I can during summer in part-time Lifeguard positions and voluntary positions to continue building my application for residency.

My parents are hardworking immigrants from India, who came to Canada to give me a better life.  I am now blessed to have this opportunity  and I hate to lose this due to lack of funding.

Other reasons for seeking to raise funds are as follows:
1. There is no tax credit for international university education or residence fees
2. No financial aid available for Canadian International Students
3. No scholarship for students in undergraduate Medicine Program.
4. There is 2% to 4% increase in fees every year.
5. We are paying almost $80k Canadian in Tuition Fees and about $14K per year towards on campus residence.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for your generosity.
