We (Rania & Tagwa) are raising funds for our sister in the community, Mawahib (Hiba). Mawahib (Hiba) is a Sudanese mother of 7 in Ontario, who has recently lost her housing due to fire which destroyed her family’s apartment on November 8th.

She is the sole provider for her children, who are currently split up across the households of family and friends. This has been really difficult on the whole family, and it is imperative that they receive our care and support in order to secure housing, replace their belongings and recover from the trauma of this situation. The housing crisis in the region, and the intersections at which Mawahib (Hiba) lives her life as Black mother, have made it very difficult to secure adequate housing and puts our sister at risk of child apprehension & houselessness. Our solidarity and generosity in this moment can have a profound impact on Mawahib (Hiba) and her family as they navigate this traumatic time.

Our sister needs urgent support and care. In addition to raising funds, we will be sharing details as to how folks can contribute furniture and other basic necessities once housing is secured. We welcome suggestions for support and fundraising activities additionally.
