David's Journey

David and his family are in need of help!

David was highlighted as a Monday's Child at age three after being found by police severely beaten and, at that time, considered the most abused child the State of Tennessee had ever seen. Monday's Child is an East Tennessee agency that highlights on television adoptable, severely abused children. To make a very long story shorter, David was adopted at age three and embarked on a very difficult life. He never felt like he fit in and never had a stable environment. As an adult and finding his way after a life of trauma, he found and loves his new adoptive family and has done his very best to provide for them.

Approximately one and a half years ago, David began having back pain. He began going to the doctor and getting CT scans and MRI's. Doctor's continued to diagnose his issue as his back and told him to take Ibuprofen. Finally, after several months and still continuing to work, David went to a new doctor who properly diagnosed him with a hip tear. They too prescribed him Ibuprofen. David complied but each time he went to the doctor, he informed them that he was concerned about the amount he was taking and they told him on multiple occasions, "If it is working for your pain, keep taking it." David's hip surgery is scheduled for August 11th. One month ago, David started getting physically weak and reporting dark stools. He went to his PCP who prescribed him Visteril for pre-surgery anxiety and sent him on his way. This was a Monday.

On that Thursday, he went back to the same PCP who refused to see him after David reported paleness, black stools, loss of appetite, and lack of urination. David was immediately taken to the ER that Thursday and admitted with a blood level of 4 when a typical human has a level of 12 and informed that within a day or two, he would have died. David and his wife spent the next five days in the CCU and had a scope done on Monday by a GI doctor who informed his wife that all he found was a small laceration that appeared to be healing and thus discharged David.

David returned home and did not get better. His family cared for him and on Tuesday evening, July 18th, he showed his wife his black stools and was taken back to the ER with a blood level of five. He is in emergency surgery on Thursday, July 20th as another GI doctor did a scope and informed his wife that he would die soon if not fixed due to a bleeding ulcers in his small intestine.  She was also informed that David has a tumor wrapped around his intestines and it may not be operatable. David has had several blood transfusions due to the severe blood loss due to internal bleeding.

David is only 30 years old and is fighting for his life. David will be out of work for an unknown period of time due to these mistakes and part of his intestines removed as well as his hip surgery coming up in August. His wife has been out of work to care for him and actually had her own female surgery herself due to a mistake with an IUD. As you can imagine from reading earlier in this text, David has little to no supports. His wife and family will have to care for him and we are desperately asking for your help. Any amount will help them. If you cannot help with money, please send prayers for his recovery.
