This is a story about a dear, dear friend of ours who has been going through a really tough time lately. Last year she found out her husband has had a mass in his jaw, while dealing with leg and back issues, earlier this year her husband started surgeries and recovery for his back issues, her brother passed away in May, now her husband has another surgery for his tumor coming up and another for his back. To top it all off, she’s the only breadwinner in the household right now as her husband has been out of work due to his disabilities. Her single income, and lack of insurance at her job, is causing the bills to pile up and overwhelm her. She’s on the verge of losing her house, if she doesn’t get help, and we want to help her out! She has barely been making enough to afford groceries in her household through all of this and her husband’s work did not have disability. She’s in dire need of getting help and that’s what we’re here for as friends, families, and kind human beings. We could only imagine the amount of pain she’s going through right now. We beg of you to take a moment and read her story she shared with us so we can get her the help she needs. Below is her story:

Ginger:

“My husband has been struggling with feeling in his lower legs for some time and paralysis was beginning to set in. Last year in March (2017) my husband went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled. When doing the x-ray, they discovered some type of mass and sent him to a specialist to find out what it was. He had to get a C-Scan and a biopsy, at which time it was considered benign. We were told then our out of pocket expenses would be $10,000. We figured we could leave it alone for a while and try to figure out what to do. Unfortunately, when they cut into it, it began to GROW! It now has taken over the lower portion of his jaw. While this has been growing, his legs started to worsen. In January, 2018, he was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis in his lower back. We decided to get a second opinion. Once we received the second opinion, through an MRI, we found that his spinal cord was damaged and was being pinched off. Oncome the surgeries. His first surgery was set quickly since he was struggling to walk. He had that surgery on March 5th. During that surgery, they placed 2 rods and 6 screws in the mid-part of his back. Throughout his 3-month recovery process, he was not doing well enough, as the doctors thought he would have. The doctors recommended another MRI, but this time in his neck. Unfortunately, they determined that he had yet another portion of his spinal cord being pinched off! The second surgery was on June 11th, where they placed 16 screws and 4 rods with a link in the middle to keep it all in place. We decided to focus on the walking portion first, as we thought it was not going to be as long of a process as it took to help him heal. We thought we could help him not be wheelchair bound first, and move towards the tumor after. Now that the above surgeries have been taken care of, he’s in need of his next surgery for his back, but in order to do that surgery, he needs to have the surgery to take care of the tumor. Due to the growth of the tumor, it has caused him to not be able to eat, smell or taste very well. His next surgery is set for the end of October. The problem with that is, in order for him to get this surgery done, the surgeon has told us that we need to have at least $4,000 down, just to start the process. With everything going on, the multiple surgeries, my husband has not been able to work since March 1st, leaving me the only income in the household. The bills are starting to pile up and after his surgeries for his back, we don’t even know if he’ll ever be able to walk without a walker again, which makes him ever working very questionable. We did file for disability in April, but that process takes forever and we have not received anything yet and we don’t even know if he’ll receive anything. With everything going on, his work dropped all of his medical benefits because he is out of work. Since then I've had to pick up paying for Cobra out of pocket, and could only afford to insure him alone. In addition to that, the dental insurance that we have on him only covers $1500, the rest if out-of-pocket costs.”

Honestly, any help would be greatly appreciated. She’s already exhausted all avenues for funds to keep her household afloat thus far! Donations of any amount is completely accepted, as well as shares. PLEASE, PLEASE share her story with all of your friends so help her and her husband out! Thank you so much!
