Brighter happier future for girls

Donation protected
My daughter Vikki ( pictured ) is working in Zimbabwe with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for the past 4 years where she is responsible for promoting education, health and wellbeing to the girls of Zimbabwe. It is common place for girls as young as 12 years of age to be married off as their parents cannot afford to educate them. These marriages are not marriages as we know them.

Shamiso and her story are an example of what happens to these girls. Shamiso is a 15-year-old who has endured more than her share of tragedy. When she was three, her mother died. Two years later, her father also passed away. She went to live with an abusive uncle and was nearly forced to marry an older man. She has only recently found peace – and the promise of a better future – with the help of the Sista2Sista Club. Hear her story by following the link below.

Sista2Sista clubs offer a safe place where vulnerable girls can speak with mentors and each other about their problems. Girls learn about sexual and reproductive health and rights, financial literacy, and how to navigate social situations, including coercive relationships. The programme also aims to give girls the confidence and self-esteem to stand up for themselves and encourages girls to get an education. By donating to this worthy cause, you will help girls like Shamiso have a better and brighter future.

Here’s where you come in…

Through education, this can change. Many girls cannot attend school when they get their period each month and miss out on up to a week of school each month during the year. Some that drop out due to their period risk not coming back to school at all. So sanitary ware, or "dignity kits" as we call them, restores dignity to young girls and allows them to attend school all throughout the year.

JUST €12 will provide a ‘Dignity Kit’ for one girl for a WHOLE YEAR!

Please give what you can and pass the link onto family, friends and colleagues.

Thanks
Veronica
