Aidan’s Journey

Donation protected
A lot of people have followed along with Aidan’s story from the very beginning. For those of you that haven’t I am Aidan’s Mom and here is Aidan’s story. Aidan began with seizures in September of 2015. He was seen at BGH and Sick Kids and Kingston were consulted. At this time he was diagnosed with what they thought could be cortical dysplasia. After being placed on seizure medication the seizures were not ceasing so an MRI was ordered in November. These scans showed growth and Aidan was fast tracked to surgery. 3 days later Aidan was admitted and off for surgery and after a long week of recovery we were told Aidan had been diagnosed with a stage 3 inoperable brain tumor called Gliomatosis Cerebri. At this time Aidan was placed on chemotherapy in December of 2015....all was stable until an MRI in June of 2016 which was showing growth again. At this time we were given options for his next course of treatment. We opted at that time for radiation which consisted of a 6 week stay in Toronto for the duration of radiation. Since that time he has undergone more chemotherapy which has put us making frequent hospital trips and stays. He remained stable until July of 2017 when the MRI indicated there was possible growth happening again. They continued his course of chemotherapy until his most recent MRI last month(October) and at this time they verified in fact the tumor was again growing. We were then faced with making another decision in Aidan’s treatment. We have opted for a trial drug as these are really our only options right now. This trial means another lengthy stay in Toronto while he begins the trial plus many many trips back and forth after the initial few weeks stay. It’s at this time we ask for help which is difficult to say the least. I myself have been off work on different leaves for the past two years since diagnosis. With countless trips and stays it has left us running on empty. Anything that anyone can do is appreciated as we begin this new journey with Aidan. If you wish to do an email transfer instead we have set up a separate email just for this purpose. It is [email redacted]
Thank you everyone for your continued support. All our love to each and every one of you!

Stay tuned for updates. Friday brings a long day in Toronto with many tests in order to begin the trial!

if you have a moment also take time to sign this petition. Let’s try to make a difference for all these kids fighting this horrible disease!
