Send a StudentMarch For OurLives DC

I, along with a few other ladies, are trying to raise enough money to send a local student from Colorado Springs to the March For Our Lives in Washington DC.

When this tragedy first struck it affected students around the country in many different ways. As for one particular student here in our community, Madison Tittle, it sparked the passion and determination to make a difference even if it was in some small way.

She learned of the National Student Walkout that students were planning around the country. She researched how to go about organizing one for her school at Cheyenne Mtn HS. And this was no easy task. From having to present her intentions and why she wanted to have this “walkout” to the Superintendent, Principals and Student Council. To the backlash she has received from other students, teachers and parents. She has had to jump through so many hoops just for the logistics. From safety and security to where the event would be held. At first it was going to be held inside the locked schools cafeteria, to now being held in public eye on the front steps of the school. From not allowing citizens access, to now allowing parents and the community to be involved in the demonstration. She also contacted the local news stations and KKTV 11 will be doing a before and after segment on her planning and speaking at the walkout. But  most of all she has had to stand up for not only her first amendment constitutional right, but her right to peacefully protest, express her anger, sadness and passion for what is right. This has been a long emotional journey for Madison and I am in awe of her persistence, determination and all the accomplishments she has achieved. She truly is a voice of the future as she has joined the countless young students across this country in the desperate cry for change. This is what being an American is all about! To better and make a difference in our schools, communities and our country. To being an example to the youth now and to those who will come after them. To be strong enough to stand up for what you feel is right and to challenge those who sit idly by and watch as men, women and children suffer.

Enough is Enough!!

This is why I have nominated Madison and why she was chosen to be the student who will represent Colorado Springs in this historical March For Our Lives at our nation's capital on March 24, 2018.

Please join me in making this happen.

Sincerely,

Kristen Schneider
