Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I truly appreciate your time!

Hello, my name is Joshua Elmore. I am a senior at Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. I have been playing bassoon for 7 years now. Music and becoming a professional musician has been my ultimate passion, dream, and goal of mine for as long as I can remember. From singing, to playing my bassoon, music has been a major part of me and will continue to be for the rest of my life.

Throughout my 7 years of playing bassoon, I have always been graciously provided an instrument by the school district, but I will be heading to college next year and need an instrument of my own in order to continue my love, passion and study of music and the bassoon. Bassoons are a very expensive instruments. In order for me to have an instrument that will get me through college and start my career as professional bassoonist, I will need an instrument that will cost anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000. With a cost this hefty, I will need a lot of help raising money to purchase a bassoon of my own. My mother has done so much to support me through my musical endeavors, such as music camps, lessons, masterclasses, and pre conservatory education for the last 7 years, but this cost is one that she is unable to support me with.

I would love and appreciate any and every donation that will help me reach my goal. Please Share my Campaign. I am tremendously grateful to everyone who donates to my campaign. With the help of your donation, I will be on the road to becoming of the musician of my dreams.  Thank you!

BIO:

I first started bassoon in 6th grade after being asked by my elementary school band director. I realized from that moment on that the bassoon was my passion and that I would love this instrument for many years to come. I loved the bassoon so much that I decide to spend my summer as an incoming 7th grader as an intermediate camper at The Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan. Interlochen was the beginning of my long love for music. I realized that summer that I wanted to become a professional musician. In 7th and 8th grade I was an active member of my middle school band program, where I would practice after school, so I was able to fulfill my dream of becoming a pro musician. On top of practicing at school after classes were done for the day, I then practiced when I got home. At the end of 8th grade I realized I should take a new step in my musical journey and audition for the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony (CYWS), where I had the opportunity and pleasure of being first chair in Mr. Crain’s Band.

I enjoyed CYWS in 9th grade, but I decided to audition for the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO) to advance my musical knowledge. Being a part of COYO was my first orchestral experience and really allowed me to take full advantage of what was given to me. In 11th grade I decided to audition for the Interlochen Arts Camp again. I auditioned and was accepted into their high school orchestra program. While attending Interlochen arts camp, I was granted the opportunity to be the principal bassoonist of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra (WYSO). Being a part of WYSO was an opportunity that I was so fortunate to receive. At the end of the summer, I was given the Maddy Summer Artist award, the highest award that Interlochen gives to the camper. It is given to campers in the high school division that have shown great leadership, skill and dedication to changing themselves and the art form in which they belong to. This past summer, I had the extreme pleasure of being a part of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). In NYO-USA, I got to perform in Carnegie Hall and go on an unforgettable 7 city concert tour of China. Being a part of NYO-USA was the most amazing and enriching experiences I’ve had this far in my musical and personal journey. Through my experiences, I have been shown the community music creates to bring different people together. My ultimate goal because of this is to be able to share my love for music with the world by being in a professional orchestra. I long to be able to show people the power and influence that music has and to be able to make the people around me feel the same joy and delight I feel each day I play my instrument.Weber Andante e Rondo Ungarese
