V-Strong Mission

Cancer was nothing but a six-letter word to Mr. V-Strong himself, Virgil Valdes. The Synovial Sarcoma that Virgil battled against allowed several tumors to take residency inside his chest, but Virgil never let them get inside his heart. He was determined to never allow anything to get in his way of completing his missions in life. He had two of them: to live and to inspire. He succeeded. V-Strong will forever live on inside of everyone who had the blessed good fortune of meeting him. His courageous fight and ever positive stance has inspired countless people to believe that the strength of one is enough for all.

The V-Strong Mission will strive to achieve what Virgil sought to do; create something special to enhance the already tough and unpleasant experience of other patients who continue their fight against cancer.

Being no stranger to hospitals, V-Strong compared his stays there to being in a hotel. That is what he wanted for others as well; a place within the hospital that didn't feel like the ordinary bland rooms that he so often frequented. Jackson Memorial allows for special rooms to be donated where patients can feel at ease while receiving treatment. Our goal is to raise money in order to redecorate one of these rooms and have it dedicated to V-Strong. We would like the room to include homelike amenities such as a personal sink with counter space, a refrigerator, microwave, dining table with chairs, a comfy couch for both the patient and visitors, and relaxing decorative art fixtures. Having stayed in one like this, Virgil understood and welcomed the calming and therapeutic effect that it provided. We believe these rooms to provide a homey feel and promote positive healing. It helped Virgil, and we have no doubt that it will help others.
