Support for Lucas

Since the age of 12, Lucas has been a type one diabetic. In hopes of repairing his pancreas, he participated in a stem cell study in which he took 3 drugs for the duration of a year. As per the protocol, he stopped taking the drugs on October 31, 2019, after which he a strange reaction and started experiencing acute inflammation throughout his entire body. Since completing the study, the inflammation has attacked his liver, his pancreas, numerous joints and on two occasions, his heart. He was admitted to the hospital on December 24, 2019 and has been in and out of the hospital since then, several times via ambulance due to the severity of the attack. He has lost 70 pounds since Christmas and has not been able to work, as he is unable to walk most of the time and is in an extreme amount of pain. The doctors have never seen this kind of reaction and do not know how to heal him. He has been on several medications because the best doctors can do is to test different drugs to see how they work. One of the drugs they tried gave him osteoporosis, which caused his back to fracture in 8 places.



In April 2020, Lucas became a dad for the first time to a beautiful daughter named Kingsley. Unfortunately, he has been in the hospital for most of her life and has been unable to watch her grow. In addition to lost wages and the cost of medication, he now has his little girl to support. His family continues to seek treatment, however, without a proper diagnosis he continues to try new and expensive medications, some of which make his condition worse. At 29 Lucas has fought hard to get well in hopes of returning to his once healthy and active lifestyle, but most importantly, in hopes of being well enough to participate fully in his daughter’s life.
