Breaking Bread is a cultural exchange opportunity for visitors to the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Our goal is to cultivate understanding & friendships. For years the media has portrayed the Riviera Maya as a dangerous place for tourists. WHY would anyone visit there? Or live there? To help dispel media criticism and foster new friendships, Breaking Bread will allow tourists to actually meet and get to know local citizens in their home- "breaking bread" with food, drink, and conversation in an unstructured format.
Funds raised will be utilized to set up the Breaking Bread website where visitors will be able to browse the local "hosts" that they can visit, office equipment and local staff. With a projected 100+ host/ visitor experiences per month Breaking Bread should be self-supporting within 4-6 months of starting the guest visits.
In addition Breaking Bread will help support the local seniors group (DIF) and provide school supplies for children.
Go Fund Me Contributors will receive a $25 Experience credit for a contribution of $20 or more. (limit one credit applied per experience for 2 or more adults) Offer valid for first 50 contributors.
