<div>Thank you so much for contributing to Misty's Fundraiser, to try and help her get a surgery for her nose. Unfortunately, on Sept 3rd, 2025, she died during the sedation process, before she could even receive anesthesia for the CT Scan and surgery. It is a mystery what happened...I am currently grieving, and at the same time I am trying to get some answers as to what could have possibly happened. The money raised helped cover the veterinary expenses, and myself and my little family are very grateful to you for that.

<div>Notes, Sept 5, 2025:

<div>On Sept 3rd, 2025, Misty was taken to PetNation hospital around 8:30am. Around 9am she was given Gabapentin, which they said she mostly spit out (I wish they tried a pill pocket, it worked well with her). Around 1:30pm, she was given sedation medication which they stated didn't seem to work (she was still hissing and growling), around 2 they gave her an extra dose of sedation medicine (still they said it was not enough), then around 2:30pm another dose of sedation medicine - I was told the 3 doses were within normal range. Around 2:43pm Misty's heart stopped, she had cardiac arrest. Reversal drug effect medicine was used. I signed a release form that morning when I dropped her off for the procedure, the administration of CPR was allowed, so CPR was done - her heartbeat came back, but she went into a coma, and her vitals were going down within an hour. I picked up my son from school and we ran to the clinic to see her. She was still in a coma and her condition was getting worse, the vet said her chances of coming back were very slim, and if she did there is a big chance she would not function and pass away regardless. That evening we made the heart-wrenching and nightmare decision to put her to sleep. I am very angry at the unfairness of life at the moment. If I could have foreseen the future, I would have done everything differently.

<div>Misty was not a sick cat as far as I know. She was around 2 years old. Three vets checked Misty before the surgery, and said that her health seemed excellent. Her heart was good, teeth good, clean healthy coat, playful, eating, drinking, meowing. She only just had, what sounded like, a growth in her nose - suspected polyps. I wanted to treat her before it got to a point where she couldn't use her nose anymore. The surgery was expensive (even at Petnation, where prices were lower) - but simple enough (all things considered). I really hoped that if she received the surgery, she would have had the chance for a full, healthy life. Petnation were kind to welcome us in, work with us financially, and expressed that they feel that they did everything right - and only god will know what really happened. :'(

<div>Was it an overdose from the sedation meds? Was it an internal issue that wasn't known? I am still in complete shock and disbelief. It hurts A LOT.

<div>Yesterday, we picked up her body, and took her to a magical funeral home/ cremation service place for animals, In good hands pet loss. I feel blessed to have found this place - I did not know that such places existed. It was peaceful, unique, beautiful, comforting. The owner, Amy, made our goodbye very special. In a week we will get Misty's ashes, and have a ceremony to honour her.

<div>The day that she died, a bunch of black cat merch (stickers, keychains, bookmarks, etc.) came in the mail, we were going to do a fundraiser at the Distillery District this weekend...I am heartbroken.
