Voyager Voices Together
Who: Voyager Academy Charter School, K-8 Exceptional Children's Program. Self-contained classrooms serving students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Social/Emotional Disabilities, ADHD, rare genetic disorders, and other health impairments.
What: We are trying to raise money to continue a Music Therapy program called Voices Together.
How: The money will be used to pay for certified Music Therapists to come to our school and provide communication, social skills, and community building education through music.
Timeline: We need the funds as soon as possible for the program to continue without interruption to the schedule. We have explored "in-school" options such as budget review, PTA grants, and private family donations but we cannot get the full cost covered through those means.
Why: We have competed our "trial" of the program and the students (and staff!) have really enjoyed it. We have seen huge gains in student participation, self-confidence, commuication, and following directions. These skills have also generalized to the classroom and academic settings which is huge for our students. We feel that this program is invaluable for our students' continued success and progress, as well as providing an additional outlet for skill building, communication, and peer relations they cannot get from other school-based programs. Our students learn best through non-traditional classroom teaching and Voices Together has proven to be one of the most beneficial programs we have used.
We would be so thankful to be able to continue this wonderful and beneficial program for our students. You would be helping us enrich the lives of students who do not typcally get this kind of opportunity to shine. Thank you!
