Background:
Not rich, famous or a politician, I am  59 years old, have a college degree, married with children,  own our home-with the bank- and lived 30 years on Aquidneck Island, living in Middletown for 10 years :)

In 2016  our concern for the watersheds found my husband and I approaching the Middletown Conservation Commission, Zoning Board and Town Council.  As citizens, we found TOWN HALL CHALLENGING to negotiate, with no "How To" manual:   How do you find out what the Town's Boards & Committees do?  How do you get a chance to speak?  How do you see supporting agenda documents that the Town Councilors sees?  How did that motion just get made without any discussion??
I am asking you to unite your voice with mine and help me get elected so we can bring back Middletown leadership closer to the people.

In 2018, the Charter Review Committee determined dozens of improvements for the Middletown Town Charter.  Dozens of questions on the ballot would have been difficult, so the Committee chose the top 12 to present to Town Council whose approval is required to move the questions to the ballot.  One of the 12 proposed improvements was Town Council term limits in order to encourage more people to run and achieve a more diverse and representative Town Council.   The 7-member Town Council voted against the 13-member Charter Review Committee and did NOT allow the issue to go to ballot, suppressing it from the voting population. Six of those seven Town Councilors that participated in that 2018 vote currently hold Town Council seats today and have served 3, 4, 5, or more terms.  THE FOUNDING FATHERS never wanted the career politicians/self-interested to run any part of this country.  It was time for change in 2018 and it is time for change now; and this time voters have many candidate options to choose from!

Terri Flynn.  A Leader Who Listens:
I promised that in the 2018 election and once elected to Middletown Town Council, that’s what I delivered.

My 2020 re-election candidacy is to ask Voters to vote: For Leadership That Listens.
Make your votes for Middletown Leadership count; please vote for 7 councilors, each one who will listen, question, and vote based on facts.  This is how the best decisions for Middletown will be made.  What I experienced this last term were councilors who are unengaged, disrespectful, ill-prepared, and unprofessional.

Do you want this kind of Leadership to continue to be the face of Middletown?  If you don’t realize what is going on in Council Chambers, ask yourself why so many candidates are running: 11 new candidates, a total of 18 on the ballot!  New faces, concerned citizens, have stepped up to help Middletown. Please, find out about the new candidates.  Carefully look at the motivations and affiliations of those returning for an elected position or already serving as an appointed Town Volunteer.  Find out, and please vote for 7 as if your vote counts; because For Leadership That Listens and delivers decisions based on facts, it does.

If you feel the same about these important issues, please vote for new faces and for TERRI FLYNN  on November 3rd.

As an incumbent, I am most proud of:   Participating !

I am not just at the meetings, but am there prepared for the issues.  I speak up, ask questions, and present concerns and Resolutions for Middletown to be the best it can be so people want to live here year-round.   I help Citizens get information, follow up, and assure Council issues are clear to Citizens.  I invite Citizens to participate – Citizens are at the top of the organizational chart and Citizens should be made to feel that way.

If elected my three top goals are:
1. Improve education:  better education and more cost-effective education,  with improvements that are data-driven and best for Middletown Students.
2. Expand tax relief for year-round residents, senior, veteran, handicapped, and in-need residents.
3. Establish and grow industries outside of tourism, while protecting the environment, beaches, and quality of life.

I ask for donations because we need the money to help get my name as recognized as much as the other long-standing candidates' names.  Like many of you, I understand the challenges of finances. Any amount helps!!!
