Hi, I am Carys, a member of the scouting community who is going on a volunteering expedition in July/August 2026 to Madagascar in a team of roughly 35-40 others. This trip gives us the chance to meet and work with Malagasy scouts and partnering organisations to not only build lasting friendships, but also to experience and improve local communities.
Alongside my peers, we will be volunteering at:
- Akany Akavo, which is a facility that provides children with a home and education alongside a way to enter society as their best self
- Mitsinjo, which is a biodiversity association that works to sustainably aid the conservation of local wildlife
- Malagasy scouts, which are the scouting groups of Madagascar
- Others to be confirmed
As a scout, it is my duty to help others where needed, and I am passionate about doing so, which is something this experience gives me the opportunity to do, by not only assisting the local community, but also the fragile ecosystem of Madagascar.
The amount fundraised will assist with costs for travel, supplies and training, as well as any other necessities for the trip. Your donation would not only help me with these costs, but will also make a huge difference to the facilities we will be volunteering at, so I thank you for any amount you can give.
Any donations over the £4,500 amount will go towards the scouts and facilities on this expedition in either 2026 or 2027.
