Voices of Panzi

L’Est de la République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) souffre depuis près 25 ans de violences et de conflits lié au traffic de minerais (or, cuivre, cobalt...) utilisés pour la fabrication de nos téléphones portables, ordinateurs et autres technologies. Une tactique de guerre particulière a émergé: le viol.
Femmes, enfants, bébés et même parfois des hommes sont violé.es et mutilé.es de manière systématique. En 1999, le Dr Mukwege, Prix Nobel de la paix 2018, fonde l'Hôpital de Panzi. Plus de 55. 000 patient.es ont depuis été opéré.es de lésions physiques profondes par le chirurgien gynécologue et ses équipes.

Nous souhaitons partir en octobre prochain dans les régions du Kivu pour donner un atelier-formation au podcasting à un groupe de femmes survivant.es, membres du Mouvement National des Survivantes de violences sexuelles en RDC.

La formation du podcast "Voices of Panzi" vise à aider les survivant.es à partager leur histoire, à faire raisonner leur voix localement et à l'internationale et à leur permettre d'acquérir des compétences pratiques et digitales. La création de leur propre podcast "Voices of Panzi": de la conception, à l'enregistrement jusqu'à la diffusion. Un moyen d'utiliser ce nouveau média digital dans un but thérapeutique, pédagogique mais aussi pratique.

The East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been suffering for nearly 25 years, from violence and conflicts linked to the trafficking of minerals (gold, copper, cobalt...) used for the manufacturing of our mobile phones, computers and other technological devises. During this ongoing conflict a weapon of war has emerged: rape.
Women, children, babies and sometimes even men are raped, mutilated in a systemic way. In 1999, Dr. Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize co-laureat 2018, founded the Hospital of Panzi. Since, more than 55.000 patients have been operated for deep physical wounds by the gynecological surgeon and his teams.


In October 2020, we wish to travel to the Kivu regions in order to train a group of survivors members of the Mouvement national des Survivantes de Violences Sexuelles en RDCongo 


The training for the podcast "Voices of Panzi" aims at helping the survivors to share their stories, make their voices resonate nationally and internationally and to acquire technical and digital skills. The creation of their own podcast "Voices of Panzi": from the concept to the recording, editing and broadcasting. A way to use this new digital media for therapeutic, educational and practical way.

La collecte de fonds nous permettra de:

1. Couvrir les frais de production sur place soit:  3 formatrices, 2 assistantes, coût du voyage, frais de déplacement, visas, transports, logement sur place, frais et dépenses sur place.

2. Acheter  le matériel technique dont elles ont besoin soit: 10 ordinateurs, 10 casques, 10 micros, les modems  4G et data pendant 3 ans.

3. Couvrir les frais de pré-production: création de la formation podcast, recherches, structuration et développement des outils administration, levée de fonds, communication, community management, préparation au départ, achat et envoi du matériel.

4. Assurer le suivi technique à distance sur 3 ans.

5. Si nous dépassons notre objectif, nous pourrons engager l'une des survivant.es qui sera notre personne relais sur place pendant au moins 3 ans.


The crowdfunding will allow us to: 

1. The production costs on location: 3 trainers, 2 assistants, travelling costs, visas, transports, accommodation, fees and expenses.

2. Buy the technical material that they need: 10 laptops, 10 headphones, 10 microphones, 4G modems and data during 3 years.

3. Pre-production costs: creation of the training, research, structure and development of the administrative tools, fundraising, communication, community management, travelling preparation, purchase and delivery of the material.

4. Technical follow up over 3 years.

5. If we go beyond our objectif, we could hire one of the survivors that will be our point of contact locally during at least 3 years.


Trois passionnées de podcasts, trois productrices, trois présentatrices de podcasts.
Une actrice, deux journalistes, nous portons ce projet à coeur et unissons notre expertise pour créer et donner une formation ciblée pour ces femmes et hommes hors paires. La Poudre, Emotions, Elle m'inspire s'unissent pour aider à créer Voices of Panzi. La solidarité féminine dans son essence!

Three passionate of podcasting, three producers, three podcast hosts.
An actrice, two journalists, we hold this project dear in our hearts and put our expertise together in order to bring them a targeted training to these incredible women and men. La Poudre, Emotions, Elle M'inspire join forces to help create Voices of Panzi. Sorority in its true essence!

                                                                                                  LA FORMATION

1/ La préparation:  comment utiliser un micro et le logiciel d'enregistrement pour une prise de son impeccable. Comment construire une interview, les questions pertinentes, la structure de l'emission.

2/ L'enregistrement: en duo, les survivant.es enregistreront leurs épisodes respectifs.Comment perfectionner la prise de son et les réglages nécessaires à un bon enregistrement.

3/ Le montage: comment utiliser le logiciel de montage, couper, coller, et sauvegarder l'épisode enregistré.

4/ La diffusion: le podcast ne serait rien sans ses auditeurs.
Comment diffuser son podcast sur internet en utilisant les réseaux sociaux et toutes les plateformes de diffusion de podcast.

5/ Monétisation: afin d'assurer la pérennité du projet et de favoriser l'autonomie des participant.es.


                                                                                                          THE TRAINING

1/ Preparation: How to use a microphone and software to record their interviews. How to conduct an interesting interview, ask pertinent questions and structure an episode. 

2/ Recording: In pairs, the survivors will record their interviews. They will learn how to sharpen the sound and adapt it to different environment.

3/ Editing: Mixing and the basis of editing: from using the software, edit, paste, adding background sound and save their recorded podcast.

4/ Distribution: A podcast doesn't have much use without its audience. How to distribute their podcast on the internet and promote it on various platforms and social media.

5/ Monetization: In order to ensure that their podcast is independently sustainable , the participants will learn how to monetize their podcast.
