Hello my name is Tracey Dent and I'm am the founder of Peace for Change Alliance Inc which is a Non-Profit (501C3) and we have for the Voices Against Violence Coalition.
Voices Against Violence Coalition Mission
Our mission is to reduce violence in the City of Milwaukee and its surrounding areas. We are a coalition of Community & Faith-based Organizations, Business Owners, Community Leaders, and Citizens of Milwaukee, WI whose collective passion, commitment, energy and expertise are focused on stopping violence and helping the community to make their neighborhoods a safer place to live. We gain strength for this vital work through one another’s faith; and are certain our inclusive, collective efforts will prevail.
Voices Against Violence Activities:
STV Song- Music plays a vital role in todays’ society. Stop the Violence Song is a collaboration of Milwaukee local artist who want to make an impact in Milwaukee violence through music. The song will be the flag-ship of the STP which focuses on bringing awareness to the issues facing the communities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
We have 18 people who will be part of the song. We have young as 13 old as 60; different races, and different style of music such as Gospel, Rap, PoP, Rock, Spoken Words, etc... The goal it the show that violence has no color and it affects everyone.
Stop the Violence Walk: In June we will be hosting a Stop the Violence Walk to bring together all those harmed by crime, including victims, communities, and offenders. We are asking Community & Faith-based Organizations, Business Owners, Community Leaders, and Citizens of Milwaukee, WI to come together as one so we can bring awareness that violence has no color and it affects everyone. At the end of the walk will be entertainment and a resource fair.
Soft Skills Workshops: We will be teaching people how you write an effective resume, interviewing skills, How to dress, what question to ask, etc… This will be a monthly workshop starting in July until October at various locations in Milwaukee.
Boys to Men and Girls to Women Workshops: These workshops are design for the youth to start a dialog about issues that they are dealing with on a daily basis. This will be a monthly workshop starting in July until October at various locations in Milwaukee.
August We will be hosting a Job Fair for young adults so we can help them get livable wages so they can support their families.
The money will be use to fund the Stop the Violence song and Video also the events that will last throught the Summer.
Its time for us to work together and reduce the violence in the city of Milwaukee...
