We are raising funds because I and my Partner, Joy, have invented a new communication appliance that combines safety against airborne vectors while enabling the wearer to communicate at normal speech levels (65dB to 83dB) without having to remove the mask to communicate. We're asking people to donate $20.00 for each mask they would like to have. If you donate $20.00 we will send you one of our new masks. It's going to take us 6-8 weeks to finish having them made. But, eventually, you will get a mask for your donation. We need the funds in order to place the order for the electronics modules and to bulk-purchase the N-95 Masks.
We believe this new technology can help anyone and everyone who wears it! Communication is the key to everything! Without communication we stop functioning as human beings. We are 'Social Beings'...and when something interferes with communication, we, as a species, suffer. We believe that our new technology will benefit all of Mankind.
I had this idea a couple of years ago, to make a mask that doctors and nurse could use and be heard when talking to one another. I told Joy about this during one of her visits with me while hospitalized. I came up with the idea while hospitalized for pneumonia. For months we have been watching people on TV wearing masks trying to give interviews, and quite frankly, we could not understand everything they were saying. So, we decided to start prototyping and make a mask that people could use…and still carry on a conversation without being muffled or unable to be heard. Joy and I researched the subject, could not find any prior art, and decided to file a formal patent application on our design.

I have experience with developing microelectronics, as I developed several medical devices many years ago while attending the University of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, PA. Risks and Challenges
One of my college professors used to tell the class that “Everything in Life is a ‘Risk’… Life is full of Risks”. There are several risks that I am taking, the greatest of which is attempting to launch this project with virtually no money. Yes, I can put a few thousand dollars into the project, but I need other people to join in and agree to Pre-order one or two, or several ‘Talking Masks’ from me. And you must trust that I’ll be able to deliver this new product to you within the time frames stated. So, that is one risk. I know I can easily make and build 1000 masks. That is easy. I am worried that once the ‘word’ gets out, that I may be ‘swamped’ with thousands of orders for the new masks. Everyone is going to want on or two. So, that is a concern for me. If that happens, I plan to approach the major mask manufacturers and attempt to get them to help me market the new product on a Global Scale. I am not worried about the patent or electronics components, as I patented those years ago and I am the only person I am aware of who knows how to build them and make them work, properly. So, those are the major Risks and Challenges as I see them.

I am asking Sponsors to ‘Pre-Order’ their own mask, or several, and we have priced them based on initial component costs, which, expectedly, are high, initially. The Donation request is just $ 20.00 Dollars!
I will only be able to order the first 100 electronic units and masks (into which the electronics modules will be installed), only if I am successful in reaching the goal of $1,000 Dollars . After the first order with the circuit manufacturer, I have been assured that the price will drop significantly. I must pay the circuit manufacturer for his Electrical Engineering design costs, which are substantial. But that is a ‘one-time-cost’. So, after the initial order I will be able to sell the “Talking Masks” for under $12.00 each. And the more I can sell, the cheaper the price will become. My goal is that by the end of year 2 pricing will be down around $6.00 Dollars. Designer ‘Cloth Masks’ are selling now, on the internet for as much as $19.99 for a 1-foot square piece of material. Now, to me, that is expensive! My eventual goal is to help every-day people and the medical profession by creating this new product that helps prevent spread of vector borne diseases while improving clinicians’ ability to communicate more effectively while wearing masks or face shields. My Patent Application also teaches the electronics package being installed in clear, plex-glass face shields and helmets. These too, will be ‘pricey’, at first, but will drop in price as the market share is realized. I will be adding those to my product line as I continue to grow my new business.
