Dear NOM NOM family,

We have always prioritized the health & safety of our customers and team, as we have and continue to take proactive measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. We are in full support of every effort to keep our team & community safe.

However, the recent annoucements from Northwestern University & the State of Illinois  will continue to have a dramatic economic impact on our business. The immediate revenues that we have lost and will continue to lose + the uncertainty of this ongoing outbreak put the livelihoods of our amazing staffers at risk.

We are humbly looking to our friends, family, community, and partners to help us support our staff during this difficult time. All proceeds from this campaign are intended to cover staff wages for the next month and will help ensure as much stability for the team & their families as possible.

Thank you for your consideration. We appreciate the outpouring of kind words & support thus far and thank you in advance for your generosity!

Much love,
Viet Nom Nom Team

—Additional Background Info—
Two major pillars of our business are: Health & Family. From the moment we interview and hire new staffers, we preach “sound mind, sound body” and emphasize taking care of family, inside & outside of our kitchen.

Now, more than ever, these pillars are consistently at the forefront of our focus. COVID-19 continues to impact many people, businesses, and organizations across the world. On a local level, the virus has hit home in the toughest ways possible.

On 3/12, Northwestern University announced that it would temporarily suspend in-person classes through the end of April. On 3/13 & 3/14, the University announced 2 individuals tested positive with the virus, which may rightfully end campus operations the rest of the school year. Northwestern is our biggest partner, as the majority of our business revolves around campus operations. We distribute grab & go meals across campus on a daily basis and also serve as a preferred catering partner. On a seasonal basis, we operate kiosks & pop ups in multiple locations, including the student union, engineering building, and Ryan Field during football season.

Needless to say, the indefinite pause on our campus businesses poses a major threat to the health staffers + financial health of our company. While we were busier than ever leading up to these announcements, our business was essentially decimated overnight.

And, then on 3/15, Governor Pritzker announced that all restaurants & bars most close to dine-in customers through March 30. While delivery and take out are options, they will not enable us to main our revenue and labor to any sustainable levels.

As our country struggles to flatten the curve, we may also need to quickly halt our operations altogether. As much as we appreciate customers continuing to order from us, we recognize that being open for business puts our customers, employees, and families of all involved at tremendous risk. Should we receive new direction & guidance from our leaders that a full closure is necessary, the funding from this campaign will be even more critical and necessary.
