My name is Valerii Nazarenko, I am 18 years old. I am from Zaporizhzhia, but I am currently in Switzerland. It has been three years since I last saw my family – my mom, my dad, my little brother... The war has torn us apart, and now thousands of kilometers, borders, and fear separate us.

I cannot go home. If I cross the border, I will be sent to the front. I do not want to kill. I have seen dead bodies, destroyed homes, the tears of people who lost everything. I just want to live. I want to hug my parents, feel the warmth of their hands, hear my brother’s laughter again.

The only way for us to meet is to bring my family to Europe. But this is expensive. Documents, tickets, housing… It’s too much for an 18-year-old who just wants to see his family again.
